I’ve heard that some groomers offer anesthesia-free dentistry. Is this safe for my pet?

It is not a safe and effective way to clean your pet’s teeth. Although your pet’s teeth may look white afterwards, there is much more than meets the eye. Periodontal disease occurs below the gum line, which causes bad breath and extensive damage to tooth roots and supporting bone structure. If your pet is not under anesthesia, there is no way to clean below the gum line. Also, while undergoing a dental procedure at Millwoods East Veterinary Clinic, your pet will have full-mouth x-rays performed to determine the extent of bone loss associated with periodontal disease and the presence of tooth root abscesses. Please book an appointment to find out if your pet needs to have dental work done.
