Toxoplasmosis:

Toxoplasmosis is a zoonotic disease that can be passed from cats to humans.  Most often, human infection with the organism Toxoplasma gondii results in no discernible signs of illness or mild, flu-like symptoms.  The risk of infection is greater for pregnant women and those people with weakened immune systems.  Toxoplasmosis can cross the placenta and cause infection for growing babies; the degree of illness for the child depends on when during pregnancy the illness is contracted.  In those individuals with weakened immune systems, signs of Toxoplasmosis may be more severe.  Please follow the link above for more information about Toxoplasmosis and how you can avoid infection.
